Scottish Borders Council
BEES is working with Scottish Borders Council on several environmental education projects:
Eco-Schools: workshops for children and teachers at nine Borders primary schools to help them learn about energy, climate change and cut their school’s carbon footprint. It’s a chance for them to try out hands-on ways to make a difference.
Teacher Training: CPD day to give teachers ideas for delivering the curriculum outdoors, and feed into active and cross-curricular learning.
BEES is a recognised CPD provider with Learning and Teaching Scotland.
Pete Carthy can also offer one-off sessions or days as a registered supply teacher with Scottish Borders Council.
East Lothian
BEES has worked with East Lothian Council on a number of natural play and outdoor forest school projects, including:
Equally Well: two-week pilot with disadvantaged children at Butter Dean Wood near Haddington. Children learn games and hands-on play, including making spiders’ webs and building green shelters for toys, with the aim of building their life skills, confidence and self-esteem.
Play 4 Today: children’s services day at Blinkbonny Wood for play workers, after school club leaders and child minders, to give them tools and ideas and inspire them to do more outdoor activities with children.
BEES is a recognised CPD provider for Learning and Teaching Scotland.
