BEES has worked with several charities on projects encouraging life skills and outdoor play.
Thistle Foundation: reconnecting children with their parents in a pilot project for Moffat House Nurseries in Edinburgh. We introduced Sage the puppet and a storyline approach to lead children through the enchanted forest and make shelters and leaf sandwiches for their toys. We have also taught outdoor activities such as fire-lighting, mindfulness, and making bird feeders to adults at Craigmillar, Edinburgh, as part of a lifestyle management course aimed at promoting their health and well-being.
Go Play: out-of-school activities for primary age children as part of Scottish Borders Out of School Care Partnership encouraging young people to play outdoors. Games are based around bushcraft, free natural play and survival skills designed to get everyone moving and boost children’s confidence. They include tracking, laying trails, camouflage, face-painting and capture-the-flag.
