Mission Statement

B.E.E.S aims to provide high quality outdoor/environmental learning experiences for all ages, that will stimulate, challenge and empower, resulting in children and people with a passion for and better understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

B.E.E.S is led by Pete Carthy, an experienced Primary School teacher and Forest Schools Leader, with nine years of teaching experience, in a variety of different settings. Throughout this time, he has taken a lead role in schools, for environmental education initiatives and is at the cutting edge of delivering the curriculum through outdoor learning. He also has nearly twenty years of experience in developing, running and leading conservation projects & community development projects throughout the country.

Working alongside Pete is fellow Directors Rev. Martin Gilham, - a Third Order Franciscan, Joan Lawson, a Community Development Worker, and Dave Purvis, a Community Artist. B.E.E.S is a Social Enterprise - it is set up as a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status.


Summer Schools/ Activity Weeks in The Scottish Borders

Harestanes summer school is our first activity week in The Scottish Borders for children during the summer holidays. Our Summer Club offers children from the Scottish Borders, North Northumberland and East Lothian education and enjoyment while participating in Summer activities
